when performing Wodou and Ghusl

 and warned against its

wastage.

“The Prophet  (PBUH) used to do Ghusl   with a Sa'a  (of water) and perform Wodou with a  moud  (of water)."

who will transgress in their supplication and ablution."

Narrated by Abdaullah Ibn Amr :

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH)  passed by Sa'd while he was performing ablution and said:

 "What is this extravagance, Sa'd?"

Sa’d asked, "Is there extravagance in Wodou?" The Prophet (PBUH) replied:

"Yes, even if you were at a flowing river."

A single Mudd of water suffices for Wodo, and a Sa'  for  Janaba   (Ghusl)

One man said to Jabir that's not enough for me, Jabir replied "It was enough for some one who had more hair than you, and who's better than you"   - meaning the Prophet ,PBUH

(Imam Ahmad in Musnad Al-Mukthireen)
